小林夜祭 傳承平埔文化

   每年農曆9月15日是小林村舉辦夜祭的時間，族人皆齊聚一堂，衷心向太祖祈禱平安。由於小林夜祭完整保存了臺灣平埔原住民社群罕見的傳統祭儀，也吸引許多民眾前往參加，成為小林村一年一度的盛事。
    遭逢莫拉克風災巨變後，不只小林村民在乎，各界也都關切如何重建小林。以長存小林平埔文化為重建基礎，獲得一致認同的共識，其中夜祭更是凝聚、支撐小林人災後重生的重要力量。
    2009年莫拉克風災後，哀傷氣氛籠罩，原本族人不願再舉行夜祭，但在許多關心者加油打氣下，最後仍如期舉辦。所不同的是，原本祭典最後的「牽曲」，因為帶有歡愉情緒，而改由村民以哀傷的悼詞，向太祖訴說小林遭逢的變故，祈求太祖保佑。最後播放的紀錄片，更引起許多民眾對於罹難者的思念，現場啜泣聲不斷。這次的夜祭，讓族人透過傳統祭典，又再一次緊緊地結合在一起。
    2010年的夜祭，則碰上大風大雨的考驗，小林族人不畏風雨，決定照常舉行，最終在風雨及泥濘中艱辛完成祭典。相較於前一年大批外人參與，2010年小林族人，則憑藉自己的力量完成祭典，向外界展現了小林人絕不會被風雨打倒的堅毅精神。
    今年的夜祭將在10月9日（農曆9月13日）舉行，較為特別的是，原來在八八風災中損毀的「公廨」，今年已整建完畢，將在同一天啟用，成為日後傳承小林平埔文化的重鎮。夜祭前一天（10月8日）更將舉辦一場平埔文化研討會，廣邀國內、外專研平埔文化的學者專家齊聚小林。透過傳統文化保存與再生，微笑新小林勇敢的站了起來，迎接新生到來。


Through Night Festival and Culture, Xiaolin Village Gets a New Start 
Xiaolin Village is a Pingpu tribe, and its annual night festival is an important festival in their Culture, which attracts many visitors. This intangible cultural property is also one of the main items in the reconstruction of Xiaolin Village. The night festival takes place on October 9th  (Lunar Calendar September 13th). What’s special this year is that the public offices destroyed by Typhoon Morakot have been reconstructed completely, and they will be opened on the same day as the Pingpu Cultural Park, which is drawn upon Wuli Pu, the original location for the night festival. This place will also become the center to inherit and to pass on Xiaolin Pingpu Culture in the future. On Oct 8th this year, the day before the night festival, a Pingpu cultural seminar will be held here, and both domestic and foreign experts of Pingpu are invited to participate. By preserving and reviving its tradition and culture, Xiaolin Village is now given the courage to stand back up and embrace its new life with a smile.
